Your donation helps us promote and protect human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in Cambodia. By supporting CHRAC, you help fund events and initiatives that raise awareness of human rights, provide assistance to local communities, and support other vital activities that strengthen democracy and justice. We welcome all forms of support – both material contributions and financial donations – and every bit of help makes a difference.
CHRAC operates in a challenging context. In 2017, Cambodia’s democratic space was significantly restricted, as the opposition party was dissolved and civil society organizations and independent media faced severe limitations. Many people were afraid to speak out, and public debate was largely silenced.
CHRAC was founded in 2019 in response to this situation. From the very beginning, the organization has operated under difficult conditions and faced pressure from authorities. Despite this, CHRAC stepped in to support local communities and create safer spaces where people could rebuild confidence and begin engaging in discussions about human rights, the law, and justice.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, strict restrictions were imposed on public gatherings. Even under these conditions, CHRAC continued to mobilize communities through lawful and peaceful activities, including awareness-raising events and public dialogue initiatives.
In 2023, pressure on human rights defenders intensified further. CHRAC continued its work supporting affected communities, increasing legal awareness, and strengthening civic engagement. In 2024, additional arrests took place in Kampot Province, and CHRAC demonstrated solidarity by organizing a march from Kampot to Phnom Penh. Later, CHRAC also organized a march from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh in connection with Human Rights Day, highlighting justice reforms.
In 2025, CHRAC has continued to mobilize communities around justice system reforms and awareness of the criminal code. The organization has also addressed human rights issues related to chemical and environmental concerns, including in the border area between Thailand and Cambodia.
This work – from education and training to mobilization and community support – is only possible thanks to donations. By contributing, you help ensure that CHRAC can continue to empower people, protect human rights, and foster hope for a just and free future in Cambodia.
